Thank you Lauren and Lauren's mom for hosting this fun get together!! We had a ton of desserts and wine for everyone was dipping and munching on all the goodies. Denise was able to work on and finish her "Rainbow Skein" and everyone wore there "Deco T-shirts" from our last get together... they all turned out so pretty... :)

We did a little "Show n' Tell" and finished off with chatting and stitching...a fun evening....one to repeat for sure.. :)

What a night! Lauren, Pat, Colleen, Patricia, Donna, and Debb were there, we missed you Denise....We all sat down and of course ate first....the Lasagna was terrific -veggies and salad and jello salad, and so many varieties of scrumcious breads, Patricia even made some green "Friendship Bread" that was like a dessert! Then the decorating began.... T-shirts were given to each member and everyone brought a little "bling" to contribute to the center of the table.

Stitch n' Chicks iron-on designs were available with the members names for attaching to the T-shirts. Everyone got to "show off" their artistic talents...every shirt turned out great!! Some of us also took theirs home to finish and will be bringing them back to show off soon!! :)

Donna got to wrap her "Rainbow Skein" as she was absent at the last get together. Don't worry Denise we still have yarn left for you too.... :)

Well a lot of struggling and "froggin" and I finally finished my cat! Phew....I think it came out quite good....I tried to get it as close to the photo as I could.. I used pipe cleaners to get the tail to curve and tacked it together...I had to make my own eyes using original googles and taking them apart adding a yellow background and then gluing a black gem in place to make that cross eyed look it has...So what do you think?

We celebrated 3 Birthdays tonight!! Happy Birthday to Donna, Lauren & Ranie!!

Everyone was working on some great projects tonight! 2 of our photos did not make it on my digi camera....I think it broke on me! LOL! I brought a finished knit Santa hat that Debb gave us the pattern for last meeting and Donna made some beautiful sweaters! We will try to take them at the next meeting and add them here!!
Sandra was working on a beautiful vest made of bamboo yarn!

Diane, Ranie & Lauren were all working on their afghans! GO GURLS!

Priscilla was working on a Mobius Wrap that was so pretty!! Then Sandra brought in a beautiful portrait she painted HERSELF of Jake. I think we all had tears in our eyes from this very personal gift Sandra gave to Priscilla! You are very talented Sandra!!

Sandra also won the raffle prize!! LOTS OF FUN STUFF!! 2 skeins of yarn, Knitting Patterns in a box, a crafty coffee cup & a memo board!

We had a fabulous time as usual! The food was awesome! We missed those that couldn't attend and look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!!

What a great meeting we had! Thank you Pat for "BEE"-ing the Hostess this round! HEHEHE! She was the cutest BEE EVA!! Attendees for this meeting were: Debb, Pat, Shanda, Raine, Sandra, Diane, Laurie, TJ & Lynn stopped by to say hi to us all! We enjoyed lots of Pumkin Delights for dessert! YUMMO! Our next meeting will be at Debb's on Nov 1st. Our pattern theme will continue to be for the Holidays and our food theme will be "DELI NIGHT". Maybe we can make a list of what we are all bringing so we don't have too much of one thing. We were thinking of having some harvest food until Shanda shared about her "CORN" Story...LOL!! I will make some homemade breads to bring to the next meeting! TJ won the raffle prize and we celebrated Laurie's birthday! We had a small but intimate group tonight! Priscilla's brother was very kind to let us meet at his house again! THANK YOU!! Attendees tonight: Priscilla, Shanda, Di, Sandra & Ranie. Sandra won the drawing which had a kewel yarn holder, a $10 Starbucks gift card and some Bath & Body Body Cream! WOOHOO!! The next meeting will be at Pat's on Oct. 18th. Food theme is: Pumpkin....anything made with Pumpkin :) YUMMO!! And the pattern will stay with a Holiday theme. Priscilla was working on a prayer shawl for her mom & another for her MIL. Shanda was working on a baby blanket & a drop-stitch scarf. Diane was working on her beautiful blanket and she brought some cute flip-flop danglies to share. Ranie & Sandra were both working on beautiful blankies!! See you all next time! We missed all that were not there!!

Diane brought the cutest doll that she had made.. And what is that TJ? Oh my...... Lori, Di, and Donna check out the Ostrich egg that TJ brought for Denise. Now where is Denise????? Lauren what a great smile....

Donna won the prize, really she was happy...honest...the pictures snapped a sad looking Donna, but that was not the response to the prize....she got yarn, and a really nice red leather bag, and a crochet magazine, Debb snagged and will bring her back a knitting one...... Thank you Donna... Shanda models her newest sweater...So pretty in Pink!!!

Debb is working on a few rounds of the Prayer Shawl the group is making for Priscilla....Prayers and a moment of silence were taken for Priscilla's loss....

Great Meeting

I will say again what a great meeting it was and how good it was to be back. I missed everyone! Lauren's Mom was very gracious to let us have the meeting at her beautiful hom, Thank-you again...

Our next meeting will be at Shanda's house and theme for food will be fruits and jellos. The pattern is a jump start on the holidays, which means any holiday pattern is ok to share with the group.

Wow, we had some terrific chocolate desserts there and now that I am all sugar filled..yes Denise I had problems settling in for the night too, I look forward to a little fruit.

Our newsletter is schedulled to begin coming to your houses in September. Anyone who has any articles, ideas, recipes, patterns, links, stories, funnies, anything...please email me ASAP, so that I can get it into the newsletter. Deadline for articles is Sept. 5th.

What a meeting last night!

Boy did we have a good meeting last night or what?! I was so wound up by the time I got home I couldn't sleep! (OK, it might have been all the chocolate but what a way to go!)

We had a total of 11 members which I think may be the highest number we've had at once. Very impressive. I had a little trouble following all the conversations but then I do tend to get distracted easily. (Quiet Lauren! No comments allowed from the cracker corner.) Allow me to attempt to summarize... half of us are hard of hearing, most of us have way too many social commitments (as evidenced by trying to get us all to the LA Fair), all of us care deeply for family and friends, we're all ready to laugh at our own foibles, and we all love to eat. Did I say that we're hard of hearing, maybe I meant we just don't/can't/won't focus! LOL! I had a great time even if I did miss some of the jokes.

Proud to say that Donna is VERY focused on conquering the sock monster. Sorry if I led you astray there with which you're supposed to do when trying to figure out the sequence. I promise it gets easier once you get past the first few rounds. I've started the heel flap on my socks and I didn't even have to make Shanda take off her shoes this time. (By the way, she's a really good sport!)

Laurie's entrelac scarf is gorgeous and I stil want to give the technique a try. She assures me it's not as hard as it seems, you just need to focus. (Oh Lord I think I'm in trouble!)

Lauren was working on her shawl for her brother's wedding. I think we need to have a picture of all of us with our Donna's Dishcloth Shawls. What'd say ladies? We can even probably get other members of our group to model the extras for the photo shoot. I only made the one but I think between Lauren and Donna there are at least 4 more. Would be a cute picture.

Loved your hat Priscilla! Didn't get a chance to really get around and talk to you much and get a good look at the hat but you wear it well. I didn't hear, is it for you or someone else? (And yes, this time I was paying attention!)

Well, I better actually get up and go do what I'm getting paid to do. See you all next time!

Crochet n' Chat
Members of the Crochet Guild of Long Beach will be presenting a workshop from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, August 12, in the patio area of the Marketplace Shopping Center at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Westminster. The group will be making lap robes, walker tote bags and slippers for Long Beach Memorial's Hospice Center. Materials provided at no charge and guests are welcome. July 26th Meeting @ Shanda's Place!

We had a great time! 10 chicks showed up + TJ came by for a few minutes to drop off the raffle prize which Denise won! YEA! Some girls started their Magic Loop Socks and many cute finished projects were shared! We had a guest with us named Laurie! Here are the photos!
